Project introduction:
Forged front axles of trucks and coaches usually deform (warp, twist) after forging and heat treatment so they have to be aligned before machine cutting technologies. Alignment of axles are done by using of hydraulic press with supporting and pushing tools. The measurement of deformed parts are done normally by using of manual measuring devices. It is easy to make mistakes during the reading and recording of measured data. The measuring process is subjective and takes to much time.

Purpose of the project:
Purpose of the project is to determine the geomerty of deformed axle body quickly, precisely, objectively and independently of the person who performs the measuring. All of the dimensions with tolerances has to be measured and all of the measurements is done in the same time. The final result depends on the statistical result of measurements. You can check the results visually and numerically and it is possible to save them in a network HDD. To sum up this device makes faster the work of alignment experts. The takt time of one axle decreases so the effectiveness of production highly increases. Futhermore the quality management systems require to keep all of data of production with quick availability. Eg It is easy to justify quickly the good quality of a product after a customer claim due to a damage assessment of an accident.

Result of the project:
Result of the project is a measuring device with pneumatically moved mechanical measuring probes. It is calibrated with etalon. The changeover to an other axle type is done by pressing a button. The controlling and evaulating of measuring process is done by a computer. Our measuring device works permanently with satisfying accuracy in heavy forging plant conditions (vibration, contamination, high temperature) unlike laboratory measuirng devices.
